The Duck Movie

I’m always so verbose, I thought that for a change I would give one of my shorter-winded friends a chance to speak (the film clocks in at 28 seconds):

Yes, the film was directed and shot by yours truly.  Give it up to me: Lil’ buggers were quite resistant to those multiple retakes.

  4. Well conduckted 😉 You quack me up! Oh I know, that was lame as a duck but it’s those waddley functions at this time of cluck 😛

    • I tried to get them to quack in tune,
But failing that, to quack in time,
      And then, abandoning hip-hop hope,
To quack at all, quickly, in line.

      But stubborn duckly princess, she,
She wouldn’t quack one measly whack,
And Mr. Drake, we all know he,
Can be a big pretentious hack.

I had to settle, as you see,
For half the pair, one quack, three times,
      Not the best choice, poetically,
But still left room to rap my rhymes 🙂

Some Duck Movie this is Phoenix! Perhaps a career as a film director then?! Hollywood awaits you so get to it already! Nice one! applauding

So, let me get this straight! While one lil adorable Duckie clucked away, giving the performance of a lifetime at your stellar directorial debut, the other….well, it just tagged right along! What in the heck was that ’bout?! Cat got its tongue?! rasied eyebrow LMAO!

Your shortest post yet O.B, awesomely executed! So this is me giving it up for you, and lauding your effort! This smarts, pretty hilarious! LOL

    • Yemie, this is filmed evidence of my species-wide pariah status. Though crowding other park patrons and begging them for bread, these duckies quacked rebuffs toward ME, and waddled off instead.

I wept wee-wee-wee all the way home.

Hahahahahahaha! Oh O.B, you’re such a drama queen! Look at it this way, you got them on tape, filmed in your directorial debut! Surely, that must at least account for something, doesn’t it?! Lighten up Babe; don’t let ’em duckies get to you! LMAO!

Totally honored to have been of MAJOR help O.B! Plus, I only just thought how possible it might have been that ’em Duckies were perhaps camera shy?! That must explain why they needed to get away, not from you, but from the camera! Even for a wabbit like me, bread sounds a lot better than camera! Don’t you figure?! raised eyebrow LMAO!

    • Those two were so comical and appealing, walking all on their miffed own up beside the road in the dry dirt, nowhere near the pond or stream. I had at first slowed, and then pulled over my car (illegally) to watch them. I was sticking my head out the passenger window trying to snap some photos when Mr. Drake let me know his opinion of me. And THAT is when the film idea was born : )

Leaving more duck photos to the expert duck photographer 🙂 🙂 🙂

I laughed, I cried, that movie has it all. I could watch it again and again, each time learning something new about myself… About humanity.

    • I know–right? Pure genius. But your words put it so eloquently, have ordered them up in an embroidered version from Etsy.

Or do you think I should have gone instead with one of those lit marquees for my rear car window, with a running DVD player next to it, and blown an air horn every few to draw folks’ attention?

      1. Yes, one can link to youtubes, but it splashes their pics across the page, which some consider tacky. This is why I rarely do it. There may be a way to avoid this–if so, I dunno it.
        1. I have never seen that film, and am now torn: Actors I know I would find funny in some scenes I might find funny, mixed with scenes I likely would not. Filled, every scene, with a, for me, literally stomach-turning thing-that-makes-one-cringe-thinking-of-one’s-child-being-near-it “duck”. The same thing that made me repulsed by the idea of watching the film originally. But watching the clip, I was torn.

Now that I see the close similarity to my own film, and I must face the implied accusation of plagiarism, perhaps I will have to finally give in and avoid my nausea-inducing avoidance.

Or not: How hard the duck, when my gut says “YUCK!”?
(Man, that SWIDT [“See What I Did There”–word play in the line above] was a real reach, wasn’t it? 😉 )

      • I recommend avoiding the movie like it has a communicable disease, because 2. The plot is as stupid and annoying as the main character is butt ugly. Ugly Duckling is an understatement, and 3. Please, don’t make me look up text speak! I won’t say it is grounds for terminating a friendship, but it could get you moved into the ‘maintain a polite distance’ category.

        • Oh, dear. First, I am so relieved that you didn’t like the film, for that thing is so aesthetically hideous that I just couldn’t bear the thought that a person whose wit I admire–no, I’m sexist here–that a woman whose wit I admire liked that monstrosity. Next: If you don’t like something I say or do, Kiri, please don’t just drop a hint. We Aspies don’t get hints. Come right out and SAY it.
          😉

JEEZ. You sure do let a person know when you’re unhappy, lady! I do feel…I don’t know what. Because what irks you, and what I was guilty of, irks the h#ll out of ME as well! And now I have begun doing it!
          😳
Have I been trying to be one of the cool kids? I do know that “SWIDT” (See What I Did There), meaning “Notice the play on words, amusing back-references, or other clever thing I just wrote”, is the first abbreviation like this I picked up, and I got it from reddit. I liked it. But I can’t retain all the others, and strongly dislike having to look up the same ones repeatedly: IMHO [In My Honest Opinion], TBH [To Be Honest], and so forth (okay, those two I know by now, but not all the others).

So: (1) I apologize. Use of these is smarmy and off-putting to those not in the know. (2) I will do my best to avoid their use in my blog and comments from now on, or add in brackets their meanings.

Thank you for your gently-worded helpful suggestion.
          😛

          • Wow. Replying to my own reply. That sure was filled with odd errors, and I’m finding more and more of those. I lost my reading glasses and am using old pairs. I sure HOPE that’s why these are happening, but it looks more like semantic and syntax-related neuro-lapses to me. Behcet’s? Alzheimer’s? Post-anesthesia effects from last week’s surgery? Eek. Sure hope it stops!

  10. You are a scream, Babe ! 😀 I ADORE ducks; so it’s just as well that you weren’t as bad as some of those Hollywood directors who insist on nothing less than 20 takes for every setup ! [grin]

    • It was tough deciding on the total number to include, in case no one sat through to the end. Adding the video length helped, I hope, though I’m sure some audience members have still tuned out before learning that the ducks get rewarded for their outstanding work.

Shoot! I should have included the outtakes reel! Too late, though: I’d have to go through all that union rigamarole again–hardly worth it.

  11. This is hysterical! But I wonder about the lack of commentary on the boy duck perusing the girl duck. Was it something he said? Will she forgive he? Is she really a she? Likewise, is he a he and not the other way around? So many unanswered questions. Clearly there must be a sequel. If not, a prequel? The one that answers the question, “Which came first?”

  12. Oscar-worthy performance right there. No, not Brown Duck. Too obvious and over-acted. Definite Academy Award for the understated, emotionally-repressed performance by White Duck. Put your bets on now.
